The solstice is nearly upon us. The shortest day of the year means a tumble forward into longer ones (potential end-of-days notwithstanding). We are going to celebrate at Eastern Edge’s STANDING STILL: A Winter Solstice Cabaret.
December 21 @ 9pm
“Guests are invited to dress in grayscale, mingle, participate and enjoy performances drawing on themes of stopping time, the present moment, and everlasting night .
Tickets are $15 at the door, $10 in advance and $8 for members (EE memberships are $25/year). Proceeds from the event will go towards supporting contemporary art and action at Eastern Edge Gallery. So why not come out and enjoy what may or may not be the last day of the world? (19+)“
Make sure to return post party-times to enjoy Chris Foster‘s Frontiers in Real Estate. Foster, current director of programming at the Khyber Arts Centre in Halifax, NS, presents a series of exquisitely crafted photo-collages, prints and scale models. These works explore new living strategies for a questionable future, employing “a dark sense of humour to explore themes of escapism, resourcefulness and First World excess.” (from http://www.facebook.com/events/418247634909409/)
Frontiers in Real Estate: Dec. 15 – Feb. 9
And the city nestles into the snow like me in my blankets.
