the prism house

storm’s a brewin’…

And that means it must be a perfect day to cozy up in the sculpture studio and organize!

this was once part of bunk beds built into the upstairs studio. we salvaged the bed frame and drawers, and now they house tools and give these paintings a place to live.

Josh and I just spent a couple hours getting everything tidied up and ready down there for the next member of the studio family: a new work bench!

Sadly, we don’t have enough salvaged wood hanging out in the basement to create the workbench yet, but once we do some more scavenging (post storm, of course) we will put it here:

of course, we'll move the canvas first.

This spot is adjacent to the existing bench. I am hoping New Bench will be a permanent home for Drill Press once it is built, leaving Old Bench to house Scroll Saw (Old Bench has developed a healthy symbiotic relationship with Clamp 1 and Clamp 2) and other various come-and-go tools.

(Uh-oh. Is it time to start naming tools?)

Until then, perhaps I will work on turning this old trunk (which we found in the basement) into a loveseat! Now all we need is the right fabric…

look at this beaut! but what fabric pattern...
