Animation Station

Well fine folks, I seem to be on an adventure. I arrived safely in my new (temporary) home in Montreal toward the beginning of November and am settling in quite nicely! A big part of that is thanks to the generosity of the spectacularly delightful and prolific ceramic artist Wai-Yant Li of Li Creations, who has invited me into their studio alongside a number of other ceramic artists and illustrators.

The next few months I’ll be working diligently on a series of hand-crafted animations. Largely based on watercolour paintings, these will incorporate mixed media in a charming and unexpected flurry of analogue special effects. And this story, like many stories, begins with a kiss:

I’ll be posting updates of the work as it progresses. It’ll be slow, but enjoyable going. I’d like to extend a big thank you to the Canada Council for the Arts and ArtsNL for supporting this project. There are few things specialer than being granted the time to focus on art for a while. Truly it is a blessing.
